Then we described what that is. The two eldest (teenage boys) had that look on their faces that said their parents had finally gone barking made liked they'd always suspected will happen. But they're going to be good sports about it. They love board games. That should save the day.Theo Huffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11832438171790956528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8342544694680738280.post-78708549374883421912012-03-14T23:00:13.538-04:002012-03-14T23:00:13.538-04:00What a fantastic idea. It sounds like it would be divine after you recovered from the initial discomfort of not being plugged in.Peepshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09334951148215245219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8342544694680738280.post-71260543236820442962012-03-14T01:39:54.984-04:002012-03-14T01:39:54.984-04:00Love the idea. I'm looking forward to hearing how this works out for you, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8342544694680738280.post-2358648525719140902012-03-13T14:09:26.362-04:002012-03-13T14:09:26.362-04:00When I do candle-lit dinners (it's my Thing wh...When I do candle-lit dinners (it's my Thing when I want to do something romantic and/or when I want to do something religiously significant - which probably works out to once a month, but yeah) I don't actually do *just* candle-light.

I do candles, for sure, but I also do lowest-setting on the tri-light (when that setting is actually low - my tri-light is weird), fairy-lights, or Ghost's desk-lamp (which is small, but very bright, and gives enough light to keep the parrot from panicking due to Dark, and also gives me something I can read by). Also: The kitchen is fully automated. I need lights (adn the stove and the fridge) if I'm going to get dinner dealt with in a timely and elegant fashion.
If I'm reading aloud to my girl - which I really like doing - I'm going to have an electric light to see by if at all possible. Even if it's the slightly-ridiculous-looking head lamp that we have lying around the place for doing repair work and getting stuff out of the back of the cupboard.

So, yeah. Reformed Abbeyists still counts. I think the point is to unplug from the brain-sucks (TV/videos, internet, social media) and interact with the people who actually share your home, rather than to be all "Let's be ludites for the evening!"

At least that's my thought.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8342544694680738280.post-87353661461576240102012-03-13T13:37:33.735-04:002012-03-13T13:37:33.735-04:00I haven't thought of Diaryland in forever!
